FAQ
The Basics:
What is Undercoating?
Undercoating is a chemical applied to the under body and frame of a vehicle. Undercoating is designed to prevent moisture / corrosive chemicals from causing oxidation on metals (rust)

What is Rustproofing?
Rustproofing is a chemical applied within body panels designed to keep moisture / corrosive chemicals from penetrating welds / small areas causing oxidation on metals (rust)

Many people use the terms interchangeably, but it is important to note the difference. In most cases the two are applied in conjunction to protect both the frame / under body and within the body panels. Undercoating Near Me Installs both options with Dinitrol and Corrosion Free
Undercoating Near Me offers two lengths of protection -
Corrosion Free
Corrosion free is a dripless, creeping, and clear coating that offers 18 months of protection and offers a warranty for newer vehicles. Starting at $212
Dinitrol
Dinitrol is a wax based coating that offers 5.5 years of protection and is ideal for vehicles older than 3 years with existing rust. Starting at $400
Other Common Questions
How Much Does Undercoating Cost?
Corrosion protection start at $199. The correct protection will depend on condition of you vehicle
When Should I Have Undercoating / Rustproofing Installed?
Undercoating Near Me installs undercoatings year round
Can Undercoating Be Sprayed Over Rust?
Yes, both Corrosion Free and Dinitrol can be sprayed over existing rust
Wax / Paraffin
(Undercoating and Rustproofing)
The chemical make up of this type of rustproofing / undercoating are very similar too the wax you would apply to your vehicle's paint. During application it will "creep" (drip) into some cracks and crevices.
Advantages: Cost - Very cheap and easy to apply
Extremely hydrophobic, repelling water from the applied surface.
Disadvantages: Never truly hardens and as such, longevity is dependent on the chemical used
Hardshell Rubberized Coating
(Undercoating Only)
This underbody coating is the black "rhino-liner" type of coating that is sprayed over the entire underbody of the vehicle.
Advantages: long lasting as a single treatment, though annual inspections are suggested / required
Disadvantages: this coating does not "creep" and will trap moisture during season changes. Cost - These type of coatings can easily cost $1,000. Cannot get vehicle wet for a week
Oil-Based
(Undercoating and Rustproofing)
This undercoating / rustproofing is relatively easy to apply. It is a tried and true formula for rustproofing as it is relatively fool proof for getting into every crevice
Advantages: great "creeping" properties
Disadvantages: oil will render your rubber seals useless, extremely messy and cannot wash vehicle for a week, annual reapplication, some version are toxic to enviorment
Can Undercoating Damage Your Car?
Yes. Improper installation can trap moisture in cracks and crevices, thus actually speeding up the rusting process. This is one draw back to hardshell rubberized coatings. Undercoating and rustproofing done with oil will damage the rubber seals on your car or truck. Undercoating Near Me has chosen Corrosion Free and Dinitrol specifically because both coatings will not trap moisture and salt, and neither will eat away at rubber seals.
